As the digital landscape continues to evolve, new technology developments are emerging and converging with important implications for our societies and economies. The OECD Global Forum on Technology (GFTech) provides a global platform for technology experts and policymakers to explore together how to anticipate and guide developments that ensure democratic values and human rights are respected. This session will highlight two of the technologies discussed in the forum: quantum technologies and immersive technologies, noting the importance of pathways of development that leverage and integrate existing computing and communication systems, including high-performance computing, optical fibre networks, satellite communications and artificial intelligence (AI).
